Object type: | galaxy (SBb) | |
Size: | 7.8' x 1.8' | |
Magnitude: | 11.1 mag | |
Constellation: | Vir | |
Distance: | 40 Mio Ly | |
Notes: |
The three edge-on galaxies NGC4216 (in the center of the image), NGC4222 (top left) and NGC4206 (bottom right) are members of the Virgo galaxy cluster. In the east of NGC4216 one can find a very faint structure, which could be a stellar stream. This tail is much better visible in the inverted image. The two dwarf galaxies PGC39324 and PGC39303 are maybe connected with the stellar stream. |
