Notes: NGC 4945 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Centaurus near the bright star Zeta Centauri (visible at the right border in the above image). This prominent near edge-on southern galaxy is dominated by thick obscuring dust which hides its nucleus. The galaxy is part of the Centaurus group which contains another famous galaxy NGC 5128 (Centaurus A).
