The interacting galaxy pair
NGC 2444 / NGC 2445 in the constellation Lynx is listed in Arp's Atlas of
Peculiar Galaxies as number 143. NGC 2445 was referred to as "the blue nest"
by Vorontsov-Velaminov (1959). It has a highly disturbed aspect with many
optical knots surrounding the nucleus. The knots are very blue and
associated with HII regions and are probably young star clusters. Three distant galaxy clusters are visible in the image:
